Why Blog? Why Write? Why Speak?

Well…for the longest time I thought this was just a way of being extremely anti-social. Don’t get me wrong, I am not putting down bloggers. I just saw it as a way of our society becoming less and less personal.

I was listening to a young musician on the radio the other day. His band, before they became big used to play and minister to students at a college in Arizona.
Well…he went on to talk about how God designed us to have an intimate relationship with Him and how he designed us to directly interact with one another.

He went on to explain how now with ipods, iphones and all the digital gadgets we have today how that makes it just so much more challenging. That really hit me. Students today are faced with so much more than when I was growing up. All of us are faced with so much more in this world that I ever thought we could face. The world is not what it used to be and for many people that is a hopeless place to be, but with God there is nothing out of His knowledge. He already knows us and our needs. He designed us, he is the Creator of all things.

I can probably sit here and tell you how blogging has helped my website gain pace, but really what I am more amazed with is how the internet can reach faceless people you have never met and how God can use that to reach a lost and hopeless world.

Know this, your not just a haphazard incident, just another body floating out there in a vast and deserted space. Yes a God that created us, the moon the stars the universe is definitely a BIG concept to wrap our heads around. But how amazing is it that through all that he designed , his most precious creation is us.

I stumbled apon a site called 960 grid system when I was looking for a systematic way to layout my CSS. The grid is based off of the grid concept in print layout. When a magazine, newspaper or other editorial piece is layed out it is designed on a grid. This grid can consist of 3 columns with photos, 1 small column and one large column or even freeform grids that use the shape of a graphic as a way to layout text.

The grid dominates print and gives it that harmony that the eye likes so much. This is a way to provide a consistent layout in your web pages. The CSS file that drives the layout consists of classes that define set parameters for the size of your columns and spacing. You invoke these columns with the respective class name placed in the div tags.

Take a look at their site and download the files, they also include templates for Photoshop and Illustrator for those who like to layout web sites graphically, slice them and apply CSS layouts.
